The IC team is pleased to announce the release of the first play-test version of our mod, Into Cerberon 0.0.1, codenamed "Coal". This playable test includes two maps, the Pyro model, lasers, missiles, the minigun, and plenty of bugs.

Click the huge "IC 0.0.1 Coal" image above to download (17 MB). Doom³ version 1.3 is required to play; the expansion pack is not needed. Instructions are included in the ZIP file. Iceheart is presently running a server at 82.182.97.10, simply type "connect 82.182.97.10" in the console to join. For more help, bug reports, server lists, and more, visit the forums thread about the release!

Be aware that this is a play-test release and barely qualifies even as an alpha version. There are tons of bugs and lots of stuff is unimplemented, but we thought everyone would enjoy having at least a little something to sink their teeth into for the holiday season (admittedly, the tail end thereof...).

I know everyone's anticipating version 0.0.1 (codenamed "Coal") but since we'd like you to be able to actually PLAY it with other people, as opposed to merely zipping around all by yourself, we're taking some extra time to fix up some crash and synchronization bugs that are present when playing IC multiplayer.

We anticipate a reasonably stable, works-in-multiplayer, version tomorrow (New Year's Day). Sorry for the delay.

Into Cerberon - Mod News
As you may have seen on PlanetDescent, we're planning on releasing a first version of Into Cerberon this holiday season - by which we mean sometime between Christmas and New Year's.

This first release will be extremely limited, but it will give players the ability to fly around in Pyros and blast each other with lasers and concussion missiles in a couple of 6DoF maps.

Into Cerberon - Mod News
Welcome back to Into Cerberon. I hope the two weeks of downtime weren't too harsh. For those of you who missed it, the basic story goes like this:

1. Everything fine and dandy
2. iceheart performs mysql upgrade on doom3reference.com
3. All tables lost, including those for the IC board
4. Everything not so fine and dandy

When the DB died and iceheart realised that he hadn't made a proper DB backup (you can't just back up the mysql_data folder for innodb tables, you need the logs as well), I realised that:

a) The forums should be hosted on the same site as the, uh, site.
b) I should set up a CMS so that I don't have to copy-paste my posts into the forums to get comments
c) I need to control the site and the forums.

So, here we are. Into Cerberon's forums and site are now hosted by xn3.net, the UK-based hosting service that IC lackey W3bdevil works for. I'm paying less per month for more storage, more bandwidth, more features, and - best of all - more control.

The other major change is moving the gallery and the primary downloads to moddb. moddb is, quite simply, awesome, and the gallery system they have is way better than anything I could've made or found or whatever. The best part is that I can grant team members who register for moddb the ability to upload files and images of their own to the site, making my job as "Site administrator" a lot easier, and giving me more time to focus on my roles as "Team Lead" and "Lead Programmer".

Anyways, in the coming week I will be directing my efforts to regenerating as much of the content of the forums as possible. Most of you who visited here were probably aware that there was a not insignificant amount of stuff there that the team was using to build forward; this will need to be rewritten or salvaged from the forums database dumps.
